Theatre production artwork
After painting his 'London' series of paintings, Simon was commissioned to paint a collection of images for a production of ‘Oliver’, the musical addaption of Charles Dickens novel ‘Oliver Twist’.
Staged at the Kings Theatre in Southsea, the images where used for transition between scenes and projected onto the stage.
Each painting relates to a scene/location and incorporates embedded text from the novel, as well as slang words which Dickens used in the book. Some images are linked to one another by language.
